Cupertino, Calif., April 11, 2001 - Arula Systems Inc., providing solutions to manage devices in a decentralized world, today announced it has named Mitchell Nelson as vice president of finance and administration.

Arula Systems provides solutions that help companies improve their bottom line by optimizing their access, monitoring and remote control of costly and resource intensive IT departments. Arula secure remote network management appliances deliver standardized and efficient console access and control for all servers and networking devices to enterprise data centers, hosting services and professional service providers.

Nelson will be responsible for the financial and administrative well being of Arula Systems. He joins Arula from Hewlett-Packard where he served as operations manager for a major E-service activity. Prior to this role, Mr. Nelsonserved in several financial roles in the areas of Research and Development, Business Creation and General Business Management. He also served as a member of Arula's board of directors before stepping down and accepting this position.

Before joining Hewlett-Packard, Mr. Nelson was director of development and engineering for Argus Technology, and manufacturing engineering manager for Lexel Laser.

Mr. Nelson has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, a Masters in Engineering Management from Northwester University's McCormick School of Engineering and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
